SS Bremen was a product of postwar Germany's maritime resurgence back when size and speed mattered. She and her sister ship Europa were the champions of the Atlantic passage during the period from 1929 until the Italian Lines Rex took the Blue Ribband in 1932. This drawing depicts the mail plane being launched from the Bremen.It was imperative during this era to maintain the fastest possible mail route. Shaving off 9 hours on each crossing to deliver mails seemed important at that time. Was it really worth all the expense ?
