APA23 was the official Navy designator for the USS West Point, a great liner turned troopship shortly after completion as the SS America for the United States Lines. This vessel carried British Troops before the USA entered WWII with a secret convoy called William Sail 12X. The West Point served all theatres of the second World War. Troops included American, Canadian, British and Australian. On return voyages the ship evacuated Allied wounded and Axis prisoners of war. Color scheme taken from actual Navy photos.
