The Leviathan was the first superliner to fly the Stars and Stripes. Her sad story led me to paint a scene which would make people think, " which ship is that "? Print sizes are 11x17. Edition is limited to 500 pieces signed and numbered by hand printed on #80 archival glossy card stock. Title is "The Other Side" to mark the move from her Hoboken berth to her new US Line pier on the Manhattan side of the Hudson.
The Leviathan was a very popular vessel with the American public during her days flying the "Stars and Bars" even though she was a dry vessel with prohibition in force for a large portion of her US Lines career. Her biggest problem though was a company run by a crowd of deep pocketed government appointed managers. It never ceases to amaze me how many times the US Government will try their hand at socialism and continually fall on their face screaming bankruptcy.
